TSURUSE-A SWEET SURPRISE

Close to one of Tokyo’s most famous Shinto shrines, Yushima Tenjin, in the Yushima district, is Tsuruse – a relaxing oasis in today’s busy world, and home of delicious traditional Japanese confectionery since 1930.

The business, originally called “Owariya” was founded in that year by Eiji Tanabe and quickly became very popular with local people. Its name was changed to Tsuruse in 1955, and in 1993, Eiji’s son, Taiji, opened a second shop in Sendagi.

In 1993,our second-generation owner, Taiji, opened the Sendagi branch.
We have been truly grateful for the warm support of our customers over the years. However, we regret to inform you that this branch permanently closed at the end of December 2025 (Reiwa 7).

We sincerely thank you for your continued patronage over the years.
We look forward to welcoming you at our Yushima main store.
